Job summary

Southern Neurosurgery is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support our neurosurgery team across outpatient clinics, hospital floors, and the operating room. The APP will provide patient care, assist with surgical procedures, manage rounds and consults, and collaborate closely with neurosurgeons.

You will evaluate patients, assist in procedures, perform post-operative rounds, and coordinate care while maintaining proper documentation and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA or NP program with current state licensure.
• BCLS and DEA license required.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in clinic, hospital, and OR settings.
• Comfort working in a surgical environment and maintaining sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and follow up with neurosurgical and spine patients.
• Serve as first assist during neurosurgical procedures.
• Conduct inpatient rounds, post-operative assessments, and discharge coordination.
• Perform hospital consultations and history & physical examinations.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies including CT, MRI, X-ray, and neurodiagnostic testing.
• Perform wound care, suture/staple removal, and drain management.
• Prescribe medications within applicable guidelines.
• Participate in rotating after-hours call schedule.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and collaborate with the healthcare team.
• Travel between Gainesville, Riverdale, and Sandy Springs locations as needed.

Preferred

• Experience in neurosurgery, spine, orthopedics, or surgical first assist
• ACLS and first-assist certification (CNOR, CSFA, etc.)
• Relevant surgical or inpatient experience
• The right candidate with relevant surgical or inpatient experience may be considered for training in neurosurgery.
