Job description

MaineHealth Neurosurgery & Spine is seeking a BC/BE fellowship-trained Spine Neurosurgeon to join our team-based practice. The ideal candidate would be 4-10 years out of residency with a strong background in general neurosurgery and fellowship training, with a focus on minimally invasive spine surgery preferred. Research is encouraged and supported.

The position includes:

1. Joining a practice focused on complex spine cases, including pediatric and adult spinal deformity, functional neurosurgery, tumor and skull base surgery, cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery, and the only Pediatric Neurosurgeon in Maine.
2. Working alongside nine fellowship-trained Neurosurgeons and a team of physiatrists, osteopaths, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, and nurses.
3. 24/7 in-house coverage provided by Advanced Practice Professionals.
4. Shared call responsibilities approximately 1:8, including cranial and spine cases.
5. Access to CT and MRI imaging 24/7.
6. Neurocritical care provided separately at MaineMedical Center Portland, a 700-bed facility and Maine’s largest medical center.
7. The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, Maine’s only dedicated pediatric hospital, is part of MaineMedical Center Portland.
8. MaineMedical Center Portland is Maine’s only ACS-verified Level 1 Trauma Center.
9. Neurosurgery & Spine is part of the Neuroscience Service Line at MaineMedical Center Portland, a regional center of excellence in neurosciences.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
2. Completion of fellowship or specialty training.
3. Background in general neurosurgery.
4. Collaborative mindset.
