Merck & Co. in the United States seeks a physician-scientist to join Translational Medicine as Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) in Early Clinical Development within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree: MD or MD/PhD (or international equivalent) required.
• Experience in biomedical research with a track record of scientific scholarship and achievement.
• Experience in clinical medicine including residency training is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead with basic science teams to identify and validate targets and design preclinical/clinical experiments.
• Collaborate across discovery sciences, pharmacology, toxicology and other specialists to move therapeutics from preclinical to clinical development.
• Develop and execute early clinical development strategy and clinical pharmacology studies (I–IV).
• Support regulatory filings with clinical pharmacology data and prepare presentations.
