Qualifications

• SRA I: BA/BS in Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, or related science; or equivalent
• SRA II: BA/BS in Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, or related science, plus 1 year of related work experience; or equivalent
• Experience with cell culture and basic laboratory techniques

Responsibilities

• Collect, process, and archive neurological tumor tissues and blood samples for Brain Tumor Center studies and clinical trials
• Data entry into Tissue Bank databases and sample tracking systems
• Operate and maintain core equipment (tissue processor, Ventana stainer, storage systems, microtome, cryostat)
• Process histology requests (paraffin or frozen sections)
• DNA isolation from tissue or blood samples
• Retrieve and verify consents; archive sample retrieval for histology or clinical requests
• Maintain human/animal cell cultures for distribution
• Perform immunohistochemical staining for core projects and investigators
• Maintain antibody inventory and update protocols; organize control slides
• Document CLIA-compliant clinical IHC work and instrument logs
• Quantify MIB-1 labeling index to assess tumor proliferation
