The Territory Account Specialist (TAS) is a driven sales leader who designs a customized customer experience tailored to each account and Healthcare Provider (HCP). Acting as the primary Point of Contact (PoC), the TAS engages with clients to identify mutual priorities and address their needs by problem-solving and leveraging Novartis resources to improve patient outcomes. The TAS possesses expertise in clinical selling, account management, access navigation, and omni-channel engagement.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Identify mutual priorities and develop a strategic territory business plan to increase product demand by addressing the needs of key partners and their patients, aiming for excellent outcomes.
  2. Encourage clinical discussions that motivate customers to advocate for their patients and involve the entire account team to overcome barriers, providing suitable solutions.
  3. Use market insights, industry trends, and cross-functional strategies to anticipate and manage business opportunities and challenges.
  4. Conduct planning meetings with key stakeholders to resolve complex customer issues and collaborate across departments to meet customer needs.
  5. Analyze market data within the territory to understand the local landscape, promote engagement, and lead virtual and in-person customer interactions.
  6. Utilize omni-channel strategies to maximize Novartis capabilities for personalized customer engagement, whether in person or virtually.
  7. Collaborate with regional colleagues and home-office teams to proactively meet customer needs and provide access support.
  8. Provide timely access assistance and work with Patient Specialty Services (PSS) to address customer requirements efficiently.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a similar sales role within the last 5 years.
  • Strong collaboration skills, effective communication of clinical product details, a track record of high performance, and experience selling to large accounts and key segments.
  • Proactive with analytical skills to prioritize and solve problems using relevant data, maintaining high ethical standards and compliance.
  • Reside within the territory or within 50 miles of its border. Ability to travel 60-80% across the broad geography, driving or flying as needed. Valid driver’s license required.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with various therapeutic groups, disease states, account management, and product launches.
  • Knowledge of patient services, market access, reimbursement, and medical calling on HCPs regarding complex products or reimbursement pathways.

Leveling Guidelines: The role will be filled at the level matching experience.

  • Territory Account Specialist: 2+ years’ experience
  • Senior Territory Account Specialist: 5+ years’ experience
  • Executive Territory Account Specialist: 10+ years’ experience

Driving is an Essential Function: Must hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. Reasonable accommodations are available for medical restrictions.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary ranges vary by level, with additional benefits such as bonuses, stock units, and comprehensive health and financial benefits. Final salary depends on experience, location, and other factors.

Training: New hires must complete initial training, including home study, within eight hours per day and forty hours per week.
