HHMI’s Gadagkar lab at Columbia University in New York seeks a Research Technician I to support diverse neuroscience research projects. You will help run behavioral assays, perform histology and tissue work, and assist with bird colony care in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.

Ideal candidates hold a life sciences degree and have hands-on lab experience, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences is required.
• Some hands-on research experience in a lab is required.
• Neuroscience lab experience is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work with a wide variety of people at all levels.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and prioritization.
• Proactive approach to work with eagerness to learn and be mentored.

Aufgaben

• Work collaboratively with a team of scientists on research projects.
• Conduct behavioral assays and data processing.
• Perform surgical manipulations and tissue collection per lab protocols.
• Perform routine lab tasks such as histology, IHC, and imaging.
• Assist with bird colony care and management.
• Participate in lab meetings and planning sessions.
• Order chemicals, reagents, and other lab supplies as needed.
• Support general lab operations and maintain a safe, clean environment.
