Job summary

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to perform laboratory procedures and assist with testing, assays, and experiments in the Nugent Lab, Pharmacology Department.

This full-time role welcomes recent graduates in biological sciences and involves hands-on research using a mouse model of mild traumatic brain injury while providing strong research experience for future graduate or medical school plans.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field.
• 0-2 years' experience preferred.
• Willingness to commit to at least two years.
• Comfort with rodents (mice) and animal research experience is a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Lab management and maintenance: oversee day-to-day operations, ordering supplies, inventory, cleanliness, equipment maintenance and compliance.
• Animal procedures and surgery: perform stereotaxic microinjections in mice and assist with colony management.
• Behavioral and electrophysiological testing: learn, establish, and execute animal behavioral assays and slice electrophysiology experiments.
• Data management: assist with data collection, basic analysis, and maintain organized records.
