Job summary

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Nursing Station Technician for the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This .7 FTE position supports the Neuroscience IMC unit with patient care tasks, charting, and coordination of tests and transport.

The NST works under the RN and performs a range of clerical duties, using EHR and communicating with care team to ensure smooth unit operations. Benefits include medical, dental, and more.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or able to obtain it after OnTrack program completion.
• Enrollment in an LPN/RN/Nurse Practitioner program and clinical rotation completion is acceptable.
• Six months of direct care experience in long term, home care or acute care can satisfy the qualification.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional caregiver in patient care delivery and transportation of patients/equipment.
• Maintain patient rooms and supply inventory; perform clerical and transcription duties.
• Coordinate unit communication and support desk functions under RN direction.
• Ensure timely communication and accurate exchange of information among health care team members.
• Assist with scheduling of tests, labs, and patient procedures; arrange transport.
• Utilize EHR for charting and information management.
• Prepare admission, transfer, and discharge documents; maintain patient charts.
• Provide basic patient care tasks including grooming, bathing, feeding, hygiene, specimen collection, and mobility.
• Support unit operations by organizing reports, forms, and transcription as required.

Education

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Enrollment in LPN/RN/Nurse Practitioner program
