Job summary

University of Texas at Dallas seeks a Laboratory Technician/Research Assistant to join the Tavares Lab. The role focuses on animal studies of pain and peripheral neuropathy, with opportunities in cell culture, tissue processing, microscopy, and transcriptomics.

Ideal candidates have an Associate degree with hands-on lab experience; a Bachelor's in biology or neuroscience is preferred. Experience with rodents is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree with at least two years of hands-on lab experience or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, neuroscience, biomedical sciences or related field preferred.
  • Experience with rodent handling and basic molecular biology techniques is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and assist with animal experiments related to pain and neuropathy.
  • Assist with cell culture, molecular and cellular assays.
  • Perform tissue processing, histology and microscopy work.
  • Contribute to transcriptomic and molecular studies and RNA sequencing prep.
  • Document procedures, animal records, and research results meticulously.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and summarize results for the team.
