The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a Research Associate I in the School of Medicine / NBHISU Neuroscience to support routine and targeted research projects. The role involves testing analgesic compounds, evaluating mechanisms, and applying behavioral, biochemical, pharmacological assays under supervision.

Responsibilities include laboratory management, data collection and analysis, and potential supervision of junior staff; strong ethics and safety adherence are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related from an accredited University.
• Strong analytical, quantitative and programming skills; experience with data analysis and statistics preferred.

Responsabilités

• Conduct experiments in rodents, and biochemistry and cell biology.
• Assist with lab management duties such as maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment and ensuring lab safety protocols are followed.
• Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines in conducting research, especially when dealing with hazardous materials and/or biological samples.
• Study design, execute of various experiments.
• Collects, compiles, and analyzes research data.
• Prepares, collects, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records for experiments.
• Uses statistical methods and relational databases to analyze data sets.
• Prepares or assists with preparing reports of research findings.
• Assists with planning, developing, coordinating, and administering research projects.
