Responsibilities

  • Maintain active role in all-discipline team consultation meetings for the Huntington’s Disease Clinic (if applicable).
  • Supervise and train psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students.

Job description

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, invites applications for the position of Neuropsychiatrist.

As part of a key strategic growth initiative, the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program at Rush is expanding its behavioral and cognitive services. We are seeking a dedicated psychiatrist to join our highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. You will work alongside our current movement disorder psychiatrists, two neuropsychologists, and eleven full-time movement disorders specialists to support our integrated mission of exceptional patient care, groundbreaking research, and clinical education.

This position is predominantly clinically focused, with built-in opportunities for research collaboration, faculty development, and educational initiatives within Rush Medical College.

Criteria and Expectations

Specialized Patient Care: Provide high-quality psychiatric care tailored to patients within the behavioral, cognitive, and movement disorders programs. The Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Program represents the most stable program in the Chicagoland area, evaluating approximately 6,000 adult and pediatric patients annually across the full spectrum of movement disorders.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Maintain an active role in all-discipline team consultation meetings for the Huntington’s Disease Clinic.

Education & Mentorship: Supervise and train psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students who are integral parts of this robust academic program.

Clinical Research: Engage in clinical research collaborations and contribute to the academic advancement of the department based on your areas of interest.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Medical Degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution.

Licensure: Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.

Certification: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.

Expertise: A strong commitment to clinical medicine, patient care, resident education, and research. Additional specialized expertise or fellowship training in neurological diseases, neuropsychiatry, or movement disorders is ideal.

Academic Appointment: Candidates must meet at least the criteria for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level or higher within Rush Medical College.
