Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Referral & Insurance Specialist for the Neurology practice. You will obtain authorizations, verify coverage, schedule testing and physician visits, and manage patient billing processes.

You will also assist with coding, resolve billing questions, and ensure accurate charting and deposits. The role requires 2–3 years in a related medical field, HS diploma or GED, and solid customer service skills.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in a related medical field with experience in processing referrals.
• Experience obtaining authorizations from insurance carriers or pharmacy benefit managers.
• Strong interpersonal and phone/e-mail communication skills.
• Ability to balance cash receipts and navigate billing systems.

Responsibilities

• Obtains authorizations from insurance companies for referrals.
• Schedules appointments for testing or physician visits.
• Verifies eligibility/coverage for referral/testing.
• Investigates billing problems and denials.
• Notifies patients of referral process and provides instructions.
• Posts payments and reconciles daily charge slips.
• Assists with coding and error resolution with physician offices.
• Resolves patient billing questions and account balances.
