BluePearl Pet Hospital in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology team. The role offers a sign-on bonus and pays $30.00 - $51.00 per hour, dependent on experience and competency.

Certification holders (e.g., VTS) may qualify for additional compensation. As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, you will perform physical exams, assist with anesthesia, imaging setup (MRI/CT), and participate in comprehensive patient care from admission to discharge.

• Licensed Veterinary Technician required.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exam; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Comfortable with IVC placement and venipuncture
• Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
• Gather histories, communicating to the doctor, and providing client education.
• Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
• Set up for MRI and CT procedures
• Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc.. Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Calculate medical math and set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Perform call backs and refill medications

This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.
