BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Neurology Department in Richmond. You will induce, monitor and recover anesthesia, triage emergencies, and perform radiography with precise technique while monitoring vital signs and responding to changes.

Qualifications

• Seasoned veterinary technician with Neurology department experience.
• Proficient in anesthesia induction, monitoring and recovery.
• Skilled in radiography, phlebotomy and IV catheter placement.
• Able to interpret vital signs and respond to changes promptly.

Responsibilities

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia using appropriate equipment.
• Triage emergencies and record vitals such as temperature and BP.
• Perform digital radiography with correct patient positioning.
• Interpret vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes.
• Identify arrest risk and initiate CPR when needed.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer meds by correct routes.
• Place feeding tubes and central lines; manage catheters.
• Mentor/co-train colleagues and address client concerns.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring experienced Veterinary Technician to work in our Neurology Department.

We are now offering a Sign-On Bonus for up to $10,000!

• optional moving allowance if a qualified candidate is relocating!

Pay: $22.00 - $42.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.

As a Neurology Veterinary Technician, You Will

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
• Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Are proficient at performing phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
• Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
