Job Description

To provide clerical support in the Endocrinology/Neurology departments, adhere to all policies and procedures of MMC, and meet the needs of patients through a teamwork approach.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting involving frequent telephone contact and face-to-face communication with patients. Interactions are constant and may be interruptive. Possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, bodily fluids, and other medical environment conditions. Activities may include walking, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), stooping, assisting patients, and sitting for extended periods. Occasional stress from multiple responsibilities may occur.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Represent MMC in a courteous and professional manner.
  2. Greet guests and incoming calls politely, promptly, and helpfully.
  3. Take accurate messages with all required information.
  4. Be punctual and prepared at your workstation.
  5. Utilize email for important messages and updates; read emails regularly.
  6. Be flexible to stay past scheduled hours if needed to meet patient needs.
  7. Prepare and process fee tickets, patient forms, etc., for appointments.
  8. Collect co-payments, deductibles, co-insurance, or other balances.
  9. Schedule appointments, tests, labs, or referrals.
  10. Prepare daily deposit and maintain cash handling procedures.
  11. Obtain accurate demographic and insurance information for billing.
  12. Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate patient service.
  13. Maintain a clean work area and adhere to HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
  14. Follow MMC policies and procedures.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned with instruction.
