Job summary

Vertex Pharmaceuticals LLC in Boston seeks a Clinical Development Medical Director to serve as Medical Lead for multiple trials across all phases, guiding strategy, design and execution. You will monitor safety and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality study conduct.

The role requires MD/DO with board eligibility and a track record in clinical research, biostatistics knowledge, and regulatory document preparation.

Qualifications

• MD, DO or equivalent ex-US medical degree.
• Board certification/eligibility in a specialty field is highly desired.
• Typically requires 10 years of basic or clinical research experience in an academic or industrial setting, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with analysis of research data and publications; working knowledge of biostatistics; working knowledge of GCP, scientific and clinical research methods and clinical study design.
• Experience with design, execution, and analysis of clinical trials required.

Responsibilities

• Leads the development of Study Protocols, Investigator Brochures, Clinical Development Plans and other key study documents with minimal guidance.
• Serves on cross-functional Study Execution Teams (SET) for assigned trials to ensure efficient, high-quality execution.
• Prepares regulatory documents for submissions, safety reports and annual reports.
• Provides scientific and clinical input to study-related documents and analysis plans; liaises with Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Operations.
• Represents Vertex to outside medical professionals in protocol development and study conduct.
• Performs other duties as assigned related to clinical programs.
