Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) in Odessa is expanding neurology services within the Department of Internal Medicine. The new outpatient service will provide full diagnostic capabilities and opportunities to build a practice with academic and institutional backing.

The faculty candidate will have access to teaching opportunities, clinical autonomy, and a supportive environment that prioritizes patient care and education. MD/DO and TX license are required.

Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine is growing to provide neurology services in the Department of Internal Medicine. This new service at our Odessa campus will provide outpatient coverage, including full scope diagnostic services such as EEGs, EMGs and NCV. The faculty candidate for this position will have an opportunity to build a new practice with both academic and institutional support.

Major/Essential Functions

• Evaluate patients through detailed medical histories and physical neurological exams;
• Orders and interprets tests including MRIs, CT scans, EEGs and lumbar punctures;
• Prescribes medications, manages therapies and develops care plans for chronic conditions;
• Educates patients on health management strategies;
• Collaborates with additional healthcare professionals as needed;
• Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures; and
• Participate in bedside teaching and lectures for fellows, residents and medical students.

Required Qualifications

• MD/DO or equivalent;
• Completion of, or in the process of completing, Neurology Residency or Fellowship; and
• Ability to obtain a TX medical license.
• Foreign Medical Graduates Only: ECFMG Certification OR Equivalency Certification.
