Job summary

Emory Healthcare seeks a Neurodiagnostic Technologist I to perform EEG/NCV and ambulatory procedures in the neurodiagnostic unit. The role involves preparing test setups, collecting patient history, applying electrodes per 10-20 guidelines, acquiring EEG data, and ensuring safety during clinically relevant events.

Inpatient/outpatient EEG procedures are performed per ACNS guidelines, with responsibility for documentation, electrode maintenance, and equipment management.

Qualifications

• BLS Certification per American Heart Association requirement.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Enrollment in or graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Neurodiagnostic program or an Associate’s degree or higher.
• Entry-level PC or Microsoft Windows knowledge.
• 6 months experience in a patient care environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform EEG/NCV/Ambulatory procedures per facility policy.
• Set up tests, collect history, place electrodes as per 10-20 guidelines, acquire EEG data.
• Provide interpretation of EEG and ensure patient safety during procedures.
• Maintain electrode maintenance and monitor stock levels.
• Record EEG studies and complete patient documentation.
• Work in ICU and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for long-term monitoring EEGs.
• Participate in on-call rotations at designated locations.

• The Neurodiagnostic Technologist performs EEG/ NCVs/Ambulatory procedures according to facility/department policy and procedures.
• Can perform test set up, collect patient history, measure/mark/apply electrodes as per 10-20 guidelines, acquire EEG data, provide tech impression of EEG recording, and maintain patient safety during clinically relevant events.
• May be asked to do other related duties such as electrode maintenance, monitoring par stock levels, and restocking.
• Measure and mark head for electrode placement, apply electrodes, record EEG study per department guidelines, end study and complete patient documentation.
• Apply electrodes in ICU and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit in preparation for extended long term monitoring EEG studies.
• Must participate in on-call rotation at designated locations.
• Maintaining optimal recordings.

Minimum Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Entry level PC or Microsoft Windows knowledge
• Enrollment in or graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Neurodiagnostic's Program or an Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university is desired.
• 6 months experience working in a patient care environment.
