Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Technician in the Brain and Spine | Electroencephalography section. Under medical direction, you will perform EEG, EMG, EMU, and Evoked Potential studies and monitor patients for seizures and neurologic issues.

The role requires at least one year of healthcare or neurodiagnostic experience, and an Associates degree (END preferred). BLS certification is recommended. Work hours include 36 hours weekly with varying shifts and on-call duties.

Job Title: Neurodiagnostic Technician

Department: Brain and Spine | Electroencephalography

SCOPE OF POSITION

Neurodiagnostic services encompass all technical functions with the Electroencephalography (EEG), Electromyography (EMG), Autonomics, Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU), and Evoked Potential (EP). The laboratories are diagnostic areas of the Department of Neurology for patients with suspected neurologic injury and/or disease. The EMU is the in-patient diagnostic area for patients with suspected epilepsy. The EEG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with 24 hour, 7 day per week on-call service. The EMG laboratory is staffed Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EMU is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the medical direction of a physician and under the direct or general supervision of manager and/or the lead END technologist, the technologist performs a wide variety of electroneurodiagnostic procedures on patients with suspected neurologic injury and disease and monitors patients for seizure or other neurological disorders. The technologist is responsible for preparation of the patient for testing and the collection of computerized information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results in EEG, EMG, EMU, and Evoked Potentials.

Minimum Qualifications
