Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technologist for the Neurology: EEG section at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. You will perform and maintain EEGs, prepare patients, and ensure quality recordings in a hospital setting.

The role requires ABRET EEG tech registration within 1 year and BLS within 6 months, plus 2 years of neurodiagnostic experience. 36-hour weeks with a $5,000 sign-on bonus and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and patient service skills.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• High School Graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs and maintains competency in electroencephalograms, portable inpatient EEGs by applying suitable electrodes on predetermined positions on the patient's head, checking the performance of the electrodes, calibrating and adjusting the test apparatus and selecting both predetermined and special electrode combinations dependent on the individual case under study.
• Prepares patient for exam and performs exams and procedures. Gathers a comprehensive patient history, appropriate information from patient, patient's records and family members to include neurological symptomatology and medications. Explains test procedures to patient and family members.
• Performs procedures according to the laboratory standards and implements alternative methods and/or adjusts controls to obtain optimal recordings. This may include appropriate control setting changes on the equipment, use of extra electrodes, extra montages and use of activation procedures.
• Recognizes patient or environmental artifact. Documents, eliminates or takes proper measure to monitor the artifact.
• Devises and standardizes neurodiagnostic tests for clinic use.
• May perform Intraoperative Monitoring with supervision.
