Job summary

University of Chicago Medicine is seeking a Neurodiagnostic Technologist Assistant for the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. In this part-time role, you will work nights on-site at Comer Children’s Hospital, supporting patient care and EEG monitoring under supervision.

You will assist technologists, monitor safety, maintain equipment, complete required EEG training, and ensure accurate data collection while communicating effectively with staff and patients.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to move machines and patients weighing over 25 pounds.
• Ability to communicate effectively with hospital staff and departments.

Responsibilities

• Monitor EMU patients to ensure safety.
• Alert physicians of seizures or changes.
• Recognize EEG patterns.
• Assist Neurodiagnostic Technologists as needed.
• Disconnect electrodes and prep room after studies.
• Troubleshoot EEG readings to minimize data loss.
• Participate in educational sessions.
• Complete EEG courses (ASET LTM 100 and EEG 200-211).
• Assist with stocking supplies and room prep.
