Job summary

ONWARD Medical seeks a Field Clinical Engineer to support the on-site execution of our pivotal clinical study for active implantable devices. You will collaborate with hospital staff and study partners to ensure protocol adherence and high-quality data collection, while facilitating patient recruitment and device use.

You will provide technical and clinical programming support, train site staff, and travel up to 75% to investigate sites across the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or technical certification; engineering background preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical field experience with direct physician interaction in OR settings.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with SCS or implantable medical devices; neurological rehab experience a plus.
• Prior patient interaction experience in healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience supporting clinical research studies (GCP) in compliance with standards.
• Strong commitment to patient safety, protocol adherence, and Class III regulatory requirements.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple tasks.
• Strong problem-solving mindset with a sense of urgency.
• Effective communicator for diverse clinical and technical audiences.
• Adaptable, team-oriented in fast-paced, matrixed environments; unpredictable schedules.
• Willingness to travel up to 75%, including international travel.

Responsibilities

• Support and coordinate clinical study activities at investigational sites within the assigned region.
• Build and maintain relationships with investigational sites and study staff.
• Support patient identification, recruitment, and enrollment per protocol.
• Identify barriers to recruitment and implement solutions.
• Provide technical, clinical, and neuromodulation programming assistance.
• Assist in training sites on technical aspects and procedures.
• Offer hands-on on-site support during study-related surgeries and rehab.
• Guide healthcare professionals on the device Directions for Use.
• Collaborate with clinical centers and regulatory teams to ensure timely enrollment and high-quality data.
• Coordinate with vendors and CRAs to ensure protocol compliance and data reporting.
• Serve as liaison between sites and ONWARD, communicating needs and feedback.
• Share insights from rehabilitation practices with product development.
• Support device-related quality reporting and admissible documentation.
• Provide after-hours support as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of FDA and GCP requirements and company policies.
