Qualifications

• An unlicensed graduate of an accredited BSN or ADN program having completed all necessary clinical coursework.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire with prior approval.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient care needs, answers call lights, assists with hygiene and nourishment.
• Performs clinical skills with defined competencies (PIVs, Foley, NG tubes) and venipuncture.
• Performs safe wound care and checks/document vitals, inputs/outputs.
• Provides patient and family education related to disease, medications, and plan of care.
• May administer medications under supervision of the RN and dual sign-off.
• Documents patient care with RN signature and supports transfers, admissions and discharges.
• Assists nurses and physicians within scope and competency; participates in patient experience goals.
• May float to other departments and may be placed on-call during scheduled shifts.
