Job summary

The Nursing Supervisor of Neuro Stepdown at Mercy is responsible for coordinating patient placement, staffing assignments, and daily clinical operations to ensure safe, high-quality care. This role provides leadership to nursing staff, oversees clinical activities, and supports operational, budgetary, and quality initiatives.

The incumbent may perform direct patient care as needed to support department needs.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• Previous clinical nursing experience required.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations, quality improvement processes, and patient care standards.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient placement and staffing assignments to ensure appropriate coverage.
• Supervise and oversee daily clinical activities to maintain quality and safety.
• Assist clinical staff with patient care activities and unit operations as needed.
• Respond to changes in patient conditions and guide nursing staff accordingly.
• Perform staff nurse duties when necessary based on patient acuity and census.
• Facilitate staff attendance at meetings and training sessions; support education and orientation.
