Albany Med Health System is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support nursing staff in the Neuro Progressive Care unit during night shifts. The PCA will collect patient data, assist with personal care, perform basic tests, and help with transitions toward discharge under RN supervision.

Ideal candidates have a High School diploma, one year or less of healthcare experience, and a solid understanding of medical terminology. Commitment to compassionate, ethical patient care is essential.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent is required.
• Less than 1 year of healthcare experience preferred.
• Experience as a paramedic or emergency technician preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Honest, punctual, and adheres to ethical standards.

Aufgaben

• Collects pertinent data and information including vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output.
• Provides personal care including bathing, grooming, feeding and hydration.
• Performs point-of-care testing such as whole blood glucose.
• Turns, positions and mobilizes patients; supports safe patient handling.
• Documents care in the patient record and communicates with the RN.
