Job summary

The Ohio State University’s Brain and Spine department seeks a Medical Assistant (MA) to support physicians, nurses, and clinicians at the 12 BSH Neuro Multi Specialty Clinic in Columbus. The MA will perform clinical tasks, assist with examinations, and help ensure efficient patient care and documentation.

The role requires completing a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience; duties include specimen handling, vital signs, room preparation, and adherence to safety and quality

Qualifications

• The applicant must complete a Medical Assistant program or have 1 year MA experience or military medic training or EMT-Paramedic training or 1–2 years of relevant experience combined.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners and other clinical staff in delivery of patient care services.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; dispose of contaminated supplies; sterilize instruments.
• Arrange examining-room instruments and equipment; maintain supplies and equipment; keep rooms neat.
• Verify patient information by interviewing patients and recording medical history.
• Prepare patients for examination by taking blood pressure, weight and temperature and reporting history.
