Qualifications

• Knowledge of neurology.
• Six months EEG technician experience within the last three years.
• Basic electrical safety and electronics knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and review medical records to determine physical and emotional state.
• Screen incoming EEG referrals for urgency and appropriate activation procedures.
• Advise patient on the EEG procedure.
• Position patient for testing and attach electrodes in predetermined positions.
• Record electrode readings and ensure proper resistance.
• Monitor brain wave activity and adjust equipment as needed.
• Observe wave characteristics and flag unusual findings for physicians.
• Record reactions to stimuli and breathing exercises.
• Stop tests, remove electrodes, and log information.
• Examine tracings for disorders and write reports on unusual wave patterns.
• Monitor EMG and perform sleep and special studies as required.
• Prepare monthly patient schedules, compile laboratory statistics, write and file regular reports, clean and stock equipment, and attend training meetings.
