Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant under supervision of a Registered Nurse to perform basic patient care and activities of daily living, ensuring patient comfort and safety in a clinical setting.

The role includes taking vital signs, assisting with feeding and mobility, collecting specimens, and supporting infection control and safety protocols. High school diploma required; BLS within 30 days of hire. This is a full-time position with equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Basic ability to read, write and perform basic four-function math.
• Ability to learn medical terminology and use basic computer skills.
• Interpersonal skills to interact with patients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Cares for patients as delegated by the registered nurse and completes all aspects of activities of daily living for assigned patients.
• Vital Signs: May take and record vital signs, height and weight, oxygen saturation, reporting abnormalities.
• Intake and Output: Collects specimens and records intake and output.
• ADLs: Assists with activities of daily living and personal care.
• Clinical Procedures: Performs basic clinical tasks under supervision.
• Nutrition: Assists with meal service and patient feeding when required.
• Safety: Supports safety interventions and infection control policies.
• Sitter: May assist as patient safety attendant after competency.
• Orientation: Helps orient new Nursing Assistant colleagues.
• Performs other unit-based duties as assigned.
