Job summary

Salt Lake Community College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach a course on network protocols, traffic analysis, and IP addressing, with hands-on Wireshark lab work. The role supports students pursuing careers in network administration, cybersecurity, and information technology, in both in-person and online formats.

The instructor will deliver engaging instruction, develop labs, assess student learning, and provide timely feedback, while maintaining current materials and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
• Two years relevant experience in related field
• Demonstrated experience with: network protocols (TCP/IP), Wireshark
• IP addressing, subnetting, VLSM, and CIDR knowledge
• Teaching experience or demonstrated ability to train adult learners
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Available to teach in-person lectures at SLCC campuses

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats
• Develop hands-on labs and activities using Wireshark and networking tools
• Explain complex networking concepts to diverse learners
• Assess student learning through assignments, labs, quizzes, and exams
• Provide timely feedback to support student success
• Maintain current course materials aligned with industry practices and outcomes
• Hold regular office hours and respond to student inquiries
• Maintain compliance with institutional policies and safety guidelines
