Job summary

UC Irvine's Division of Continuing Education is seeking part-time instructors for in-person teaching of Networks and Protocol courses. Positions are course-by-course and ongoing recruitment, beginning Fall 2026 with October 2026 start. Emphasis on lab-based learning and adult education.

Qualified applicants hold a Master’s degree (or CCNA/CCNP equivalent) and can bridge theory with hands-on labs using Wireshark and Cisco Packet Tracer. Canvas LMS experience is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in CS/CE/IT or equivalent industry certifications like CCNA/CCNP.
• Strong background in computer networking fundamentals, protocol analysis with Wireshark, and routing/switching.
• Ability to bridge theory with practical lab applications for adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver in-person course materials and assessments.
• Utilize Canvas LMS as the course support platform.
• Communicate teaching objectives and grading policies to students.
• Evaluate student achievement and assign grades.
• Post final grades to the transcript system by deadlines.
• Respond to student questions and learning needs promptly.
• Stay current with the professional knowledge in the field.
• Complete required UC Irvine orientations and trainings by deadlines.
• Perform administrative tasks including syllabi updates and postings.

Education

Master’s degree in Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Information Technology

CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certifications
