Job summary

Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is seeking a Network Technician to support and maintain the district’s network infrastructure, including fiber, Cat 6A, VoIP, PA and two-way radio systems. The role focuses on reliable connectivity, power support through UPS, and ongoing upgrades across school sites and administrative offices.

The position reports to the Manager of Network Operations and requires hands-on installation, testing, and documentation. Full-time, on-site at IPS with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in network cabling, VoIP, or telecommunications support.
• Experience installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fiber optic cabling, Cat 6A, or other structured cabling.
• Familiarity with UPS systems, VoIP phone systems, PA systems, or two-way radio equipment.
• Certifications such as BICSI Installer (Level I or II) are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot physical network cabling across district facilities.
• Support installation, configuration, and maintenance of VoIP Mitel systems and PA/radio systems.
• Assist with deployment of switches, routers, wireless APs, and related devices.
• Document inventory, layouts, and service activities; respond to tickets and incidents.
