Job summary

The Budd Group in Wilson, NC is seeking a hands-on Network Technician to maintain, service, and install facility-wide network infrastructure, hardware, access control systems, and IP cameras across the site.

The role requires strong problem‑solving, structured cabling experience, and practical skills including aerial lift operation and fabrication. You will work with WIC boxes, patch panels, switches, WAPs, UPS, and VOIP devices, ensuring secure, reliable connectivity.

Qualifications

• Hands-on IT/network infrastructure maintenance experience.
• Aerial Lift Certification/Experience required (scissor/boom lifts).
• Copper (Cat5/Cat6) and fiber termination expertise.
• IDF cabinet management familiarity (switches, patch panels, UPS).
• Basic networking fundamentals (VLANs, switch ports, IP routing).
• Basic fabrication skills using shop tools.

Responsibilities

• Hardware & Display Installation: Install, maintain, and replace TVs, desktop hardware, and thin‑client devices throughout office spaces.
• Cabling & Termination: Terminate copper cables (Cat5/Cat6) and fiber cables (single/multi-mode).
• Infrastructure & Equipment Management: Install and service WIC boxes, patch panels, wire management, switches, and UPS in IDF cabinets; manage WAPs.
• Security & Surveillance Systems: Maintain access control equipment and IP camera systems.
• Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues to minimize downtime.
• Fabrication & Shop Work: Design/build brackets, mounts, or mounting solutions for equipment installations.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate aerial lifts to perform elevated work.

Position Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and hands‑on Network Technician to join our team in Wilson, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and installing facility-wide network infrastructure, physical hardware, access control systems, and IP cameras. The ideal candidate possesses solid troubleshooting capabilities, structured cabling experience, and practical hands‑on skills (including aerial lift operation and basic fabrication).

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware & Display Installation: Install, maintain, and replace TVs, desktop hardware, and thin‑client devices (Raspberry Pis, IGELs) throughout office spaces, breakrooms, and the facility floor.

• Cabling & Termination:

  • Terminate and service Cat5/Cat6 cables (Shielded, Non‑Shielded, and Plenum) including network jacks and RJ‑45 connectors.

  • Terminate and service Fiber Optic cables (Single-mode and Multi‑mode).

• Infrastructure & Equipment Management:

  • Install, manage, and service WIC boxes, patch panels, wire management systems, switches, and UPS backup units inside IDF cabinets.

  • Install, service, and replace Wireless Access Points (WAPs) facility‑wide.

  • Install, service, and replace VOIP phones as needed.

• Security & Surveillance Systems:

  • Maintain and service access control equipment across the facility.

  • Install, service, and replace IP camera systems and components on individual machinery and facility‑wide setups.

• Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

  • Perform basic and intermediate diagnostic troubleshooting to isolate and resolve infrastructure issues promptly (e.g., faulty jacks/cables, bad switch ports, incorrect VLAN configurations) to minimize operational downtime.

• Fabrication & Shop Work:

  • Utilize basic fabrication skills in the Kaizen shop to design/build custom brackets, stands, or mounting solutions for network equipment installations.

• Equipment Operation:

  • Safely operate aerial lifts (scissor lift and boom lift) to perform elevated installation and maintenance work.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Hands‑on experience in IT/network infrastructure maintenance, structured cabling, and hardware support.

• Aerial Lift Certification/Experience: Previous experience operating scissor lifts and boom lifts is strictly required.

• Technical Skills:

  • Expertise with copper (Cat5/Cat6) and fiber termination.

  • Familiarity with IDF cabinet management (switches, patch panels, UPS systems).

  • Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, switch ports, IP routing).

• Physical & Practical Requirements:

  • Basic fabrication skills (working with tools in a shop setting to construct mounts/brackets).

  • Ability to climb, work at elevated heights, lift equipment, and maneuver around a facility floor.

• Soft Skills: Strong problem‑solving ability, high attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a smooth‑running infrastructure.
