Job summary

The City of Reno is seeking a Network Analyst to support and optimize its enterprise network, including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless systems, and servers. You will monitor, respond to incidents, configure devices, document settings, and maintain high availability across critical and non‑critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• Each full year of work experience beyond the one year requirement may substitute for one year of required education.
• One year of increasingly responsible experience in network operating systems.

Responsibilities

• Upgrade network desktop based systems and correct errors to maintain network and desktop after implementation.
• Install software packages; replace defective or inadequate software packages.
• Configure and manage all network equipment and settings, including switches, routers, wireless WAN equipment, and VoIP equipment.
• Administer all network security, including firewalls and antivirus programs.
• Build, update, back up, maintain, and administer servers.
• Respond to client inquiries concerning systems operation; diagnose system hardware, software and operator problems.
• Maintain contact with vendors and contractors to secure network products and services.
• Instruct users in the proper use of equipment and software.
• Coordinate activities with help desk, network services or other information systems groups.
• Provide top level support for all computer and network systems.
• Perform related duties as required.
