Job summary

Tooele City Corporation is seeking an IT Network Specialist to install, configure, administer, maintain, monitor, and support the City's network infrastructure. You will collaborate with the IT team and City departments to troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and protect systems from security threats.

The role requires an Associate's degree and two years' progressive network experience, with certifications encouraged.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in IT/CS/NA/Cybersecurity or related field and 2+ years' experience; bachelor's preferred.
• Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, MCP, MCSA, CCNA, or VCP desirable.
• Willingness to respond to call-outs and after-hours.
• Must pass a comprehensive police background check and maintain trust in City security.
• Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information per laws and City policies.
• Must possess a Utah driver's license (or obtain within 3 months) and have driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, administer, monitor, and troubleshoot the City's network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VLAN, Internet).
• Install, configure, maintain, and support network switches, routers, firewalls, and related hardware/software.
• Monitor performance, availability, capacity, and security; troubleshoot outages and performance issues.
• Implement and maintain network cybersecurity measures, including firewalls and endpoint protection.
• Perform routine system maintenance, updates, firmware upgrades, and hardware replacements.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Respond to service requests and tickets; diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and user issues.
• Provide guidance to City staff on network connectivity and access to resources.
