Job summary

The City of Bryan IT Department seeks a Professional-level Security Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate controls protecting municipal infrastructure. You will lead secure network architectures across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, and act as technical lead during security incidents.

Responsibilities include monitoring with SIEM, conducting vulnerability scans, coordinating third‑party security functions, and guiding IT staff on security best practices; required are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and 4+ years of experience or Master's degree with 2+ years.
• Familiarity with cloud security platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• Knowledge of information security administration, governance, and compliance principles.
• Experience with security technologies and network protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS/SSL.
• Certs such as CISSP/CISM/CEH/Security+ are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review security management reports and coordinate third-party security functions.
• Identify gaps in network design and assess control operating effectiveness; recommend improvements.
• Configure and manage secure network architectures across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Architect and deploy secure network solutions including NGFW, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and web content filters.
• Lead during security breaches or outages; perform root cause analysis and remediation.
• Conduct regular network scans and penetration tests; oversee hardening of devices.
• Use SIEM tools to monitor traffic and automate response.
• Ensure infrastructure meets standards including NERC CIP, CJIS, PCI.
