Job summary

HCLTech in Cary, NC or Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Network Patch Management Analyst to support scheduling, coordination, and tracking of firmware and software updates across routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure. The role focuses on executing pre-approved change tasks, health verification, and maintaining patch records under L2 engineers.

Qualifications

Basic networking knowledge including OSI, IP addressing, VLANs and routing basics.
Familiarity with Cisco IOS CLI commands (show version, copy commands, reload).
Awareness of device backup processes (TFTP/SCP).
Knowledge of network management systems (SolarWinds, Cisco Works) and ITSM tooling.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and track patching activities for network devices (Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOS, Aruba, Palo Alto).
Perform pre-patch tasks: verify backups, confirm maintenance windows, validate access.
Execute standard patching steps under supervision.
Monitor post-patch health: interfaces, routing, connectivity.
Log patch activity in ITSM tickets (ServiceNow, Remedy).
Maintain firmware inventory and flag outdated software.
Communicate maintenance windows to stakeholders and NOC.
Escalate failures to L2 promptly.
Assist in weekly patch compliance reports.
