Job summary

Lumen is seeking an Operations Technician for the Network Operations Center environment to support DHS and NCPS initiatives. You will perform fiber maintenance, router/switch/server/firewall support, and proactive network troubleshooting in a high‑volume data center setting.

The role requires 24x7 shift work, strong communication skills, and familiarity with Juniper JunOS, Netscreen Firewalls, SolarWinds, and Cisco hardware. A TS clearance is required or the ability to obtain a TSSCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate with peers and customers.
• Willingness to work Shift work 24x7 coverage, weekends, holidays and on‑call rotation.
• Familiar with Juniper (JunOS), Netscreen Firewalls, SolarWinds, and Cisco Networking Hardware.
• Experience with application‑level firewalls (proxies).
• Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top‑Secret SCI (TSSCI).

Responsibilities

• Fiber maintenance including installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic cable in multiple program networks.
• Hands-on technical support of routers, switches, servers, and firewalls in a Data Center/office environment.
• Network troubleshooting and fault analysis; hardware troubleshooting and repair.
• Develop and follow MOPs and proactively take corrective action.
• Trouble ticket generation and customer interface and escalations.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting Tier 1/2 events in switches/routers/firewalls.
• Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
