Job summary

Steiner Electric in Elk Grove Village, IL is seeking a Network Operations Manager to oversee the daily performance, availability, security, and reliability of our network infrastructure.

You will lead cross-functional teams, manage WAN/LAN, support cyber threat responses, and drive business continuity planning and infrastructure growth.

This office-based role offers a hybrid schedule with remote work from home and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of experience managing network infrastructure.
• Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, data centers and VOIP architectures.
• Experience developing failover strategies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery plans.
• Experience selecting and implementing cyber threat prevention solutions.
• Experience managing on‑premise and cloud data centers, WANs and LANs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

The primary responsibility of the Network Operations Manager is to oversee the daily performance, availability, security, and reliability of our network infrastructure, managing teams and systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal uptime. Own the business continuity and cyber threat plan. Recommend infrastructure changes to accommodate growth of the company.

• Manage day-to-day network issues partnering with IT team and 3 rd party network engineering teams.
• Support cyber threat responses including supporting the HelpDesk team with SOC alerts.
• Manage the wide area and local area networks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues by identifying causes, determining solutions, and communicating resolutions to team members and users.
• Manage and update the business continuity and cyber threat plan, including testing the plan.
• Manage hardware, software, and support services purchases and renewals.
• Develop and recommend 3-year infrastructure strategy for data centers.
• Communicate and track project status using project management software.
• Communicate technical information and solutions in both technical and user-friendly language.

WHAT WE'LL NEED FROM YOU:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant experience.
• Minimum of 5-7 experience managing network infrastructure along with technical knowledge and experience with firewalls, routers, switches, data centers, and VOIP architectures.
• Experience developing failover strategies, backup solutions, and disaster recovery plans.
• Experience selecting and implementing cyber threat prevention solutions.
• Experience managing on-premise and cloud data centers, wide area networks, and local area networks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, especially within cross-functional teams.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
