Job summary

Smith Arnold Partners seeks an Associate Director of Network Engineering to lead a high‑performing team responsible for enterprise networking across on‑premises and cloud environments. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/IS or related field.
  • 12+ years of hands-on network engineering in complex enterprise environments.
  • 3-5+ years of leadership or team management experience.
  • Strong expertise with enterprise networking technologies (Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Meraki, Arista).
  • Advanced routing/switching knowledge (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, VLANs, STP).
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, Zero Trust security, cloud networking (Azure ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Azure Firewall).
  • Experience with monitoring/management tools (SolarWinds, LogicMonitor).
  • Familiarity with UCaaS/CCaaS platforms and cloud-based networking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Network Engineering team’s day-to-day operations with technical leadership and mentoring.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise networking infrastructure (LAN/WAN/SD-WAN, firewalls, VPNs, wireless).
  • Escalate and drive root-cause analysis for complex network incidents.
  • Ensure availability, performance, and reliability of network services through monitoring and optimization.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to maintain secure network environments and standards.
  • Oversee lifecycle planning, upgrades, and maintenance of routers, switches, and related tech.
  • Support hybrid cloud networking across Azure and other clouds.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, application, and security teams on enterprise solutions.
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and SOPs.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts; lead cloud integration projects.

Title: Associate Director of Network Engineering
Location: New Haven County, CT
Salary: $150,000 to $170,000 +Bonus
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the Network Engineering team, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise networking infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and UCaaS/CCaaS platforms.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex network incidents, driving troubleshooting efforts and root cause analysis.
  • Ensure the availability, performance, and reliability of enterprise network services through monitoring and optimization initiatives.
  • Partner closely with cybersecurity teams to maintain secure network environments and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Oversee lifecycle planning, upgrades, and maintenance for routers, switches, firewalls, and related network technologies.
  • Support the architecture and implementation of hybrid cloud networking environments across Azure and other cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to deliver seamless enterprise technology solutions.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Manage vendor relationships, support contracts, and technology service providers.
  • Lead strategic networking projects, including cloud integrations, infrastructure modernization initiatives, office expansions, and data center migrations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 12+ years of hands-on network engineering experience within complex enterprise environments.
  • 3-5+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team management experience.
  • Strong expertise with enterprise networking technologies, including Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Meraki, Arista, and Azure networking solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, QoS, VLANs, and STP.
  • Experience managing firewalls, VPN technologies, and Zero Trust security architectures.
  • Strong background in cloud networking, including Azure ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Azure Firewalls, Virtual WAN, BGP, and VNET design.
  • Experience with network monitoring, automation, and management tools such as SolarWinds and LogicMonitor.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based UCaaS and CCaaS platforms.
  • Outstanding analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
