Job summary

RL Canning seeks an experienced Network Manager to lead the Network Engineering team in Chicago, overseeing design, implementation, maintenance, and support of LAN, WAN, VoIP, VPN, Internet, and intranet environments with emphasis on reliability and security.

You will mentor IT staff, align IT roles with organizational needs, and manage budgets while delivering scalable network solutions in collaboration with stakeholders. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of network (LAN/WAN/VOIP) experience.
• Five (5) years of IT management experience in a health or hospital environment.
• Three (3) years of experience supervising and/or managing unified communications staff.
• Experience building and managing a Network Operations function related to monitoring and responding to alerts and the availability and performance of the enterprise network system.
• Experience and applied knowledge of VOIP and Unified Communications and how to enable network services to support this technology across the enterprise.
• Knowledge concerning all network technology including LAN, WAN concepts, wireless technology, VOIP concepts, and network architecture.
• Knowledge of trends, issues, and best practices relevant to the position.
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking, negotiation, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize projects and tasks.
• Willingness to travel as needed to support client projects and corporate responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance, oversight, training, standards, and best practices to empower the HIS Network Services team.
• Supervises IT staff, including evaluating performance and setting performance goals.
• Works with the Network Information Officer to align IT roles and positions with the needs of the organization.
• Fosters built-in quality within the Network Engineering team.
• Mentors IT staff by providing opportunities for professional growth via education in IT concepts, guidance, and hands-on training.
• Maintains current diagrams of the network infrastructure; ensures network infrastructure has optimal performance in accordance with standards.
• Leads in planning and design of solutions and explores solution alternatives; represents the Network Engineering practice perspective in architecture decisions.
• Works with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, and other team members to establish high-level network requirements, design, intent, and deliverables; helps establish the solution models and documents network requirements.
• Establishes critical network-related Nonfunctional Requirements such as reliability, security, recoverability, and scalability at the solution level; participates in the definition of others.
• Analyzes and validates the economic impact of network design decisions and provides recommendations on budget and cost reduction efforts.
• Works with stakeholders to develop, analyze, and implement enabling network platforms.
• Works with the Security and Network Information Officer to plan and develop the network strategic plans in support of upcoming business requirements, equipment upgrades, and new technologies.
• Serves as the product owner for all computer network services, including LAN, WAN, VOIP, VPN, and Internet/Intranet systems.
• Maintains and forecasts budgets to include capital and operating expenses.
• Contributes to the support and success of the organization by providing technical expertise and scalable technologies and platforms.

Job Overview

RL Canning is seeking an experienced Network Manager to provide technical leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the Network Engineering team. This role serves as a technical expert, ensuring the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of enterprise network services. Responsibilities include the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of LAN, WAN, network segments, VoIP, VPN, Internet, and Intranet environments. The Manager leads troubleshooting, network monitoring, infrastructure improvements, and the implementation of engineering best practices. This position also partners with customers and stakeholders to assess requirements, develop network solutions, and coordinate upgrades and enhancements. The ideal candidate combines strong network engineering expertise with proven leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills.

The US base salary for this full-time position is $140,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually, W2, along with a comprehensive benefits package detailed in the “Benefits Offered” section of the job description. The salary wage offered within this range will be influenced by factors such as work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In this role, you will

For this role, you will need

• Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted best practices relevant to the position.

• Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize projects and tasks.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field from an accredited college or university.
