Job summary

GDH is seeking a seasoned network engineer to support and maintain mission-critical FAA network infrastructure in Albuquerque, NM. The role focuses on IP-based networks, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting across multiple locations within the region.

You will lead upgrades, SD-WAN deployments, fiber optic installations, and system security while maintaining accurate documentation, diagrams, and test records. Travel regionally is required with expenses reimbursed.

Qualifications

  • U.S. government security clearance eligibility; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years experience, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting enterprise network environments.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.
  • Experience with TDM-to-IP migrations and modern IP-based networking.
  • Solid understanding of SD‑WAN, fiber optics, and wireless LAN/WAN technologies.
  • Familiarity with firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and schematics.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure uptime, performance, and security of FAA network infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
  • Support SD-WAN solutions across distributed environments.
  • Install, terminate, and test fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode).
  • Perform fiber testing using OTDR and certification tools.
  • Monitor systems daily, analyze logs, and respond to incidents promptly.
  • Troubleshoot network issues across fiber, SD-WAN, and IP layers, escalating as needed.
  • Support network cutovers, migrations, and validate failover procedures.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and configuration records.
  • Travel regionally to support multiple sites, with expenses reimbursed as necessary.

Role Summary

This position involves supporting and maintaining mission-critical aviation network infrastructure, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance IP-based networks. The role offers opportunities to work on federal programs supporting air traffic operations, with a focus on network installation, configuration, and troubleshooting across multiple locations within the Albuquerque, NM region. The candidate will be responsible for supporting network upgrades, fiber optic installations, and system security, contributing to critical national initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, or equivalent combination (Masters 6+, Associates 10+, HS diploma 12+).

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.

Pay

Publishing Pay Range: $63.00 - $68.00 hourly
