Job summary

Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) seeks a Network Administrator to design, implement, manage, document, and maintain GLWA IT infrastructure across storage, server, radio, voice, and data systems in the Detroit area.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field and at least three years of network administration experience, with a certification due within two years of hire. On-site work, comprehensive benefits, and growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years as a Network Administrator or equivalent education/experience.
  • Must obtain a technology certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNE) within two (2) years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain IT infrastructure, including systems, voice, radio, and network hardware/software
  • Collaborate with business units and IT staff to provide solutions aligned with current and future architecture
  • Manage capacity, security, data, system maintenance, and performance for assigned systems
  • Participate in hardware, software, and infrastructure planning, research, and development
  • Administer and support GLWA network, system, and security infrastructure, including installation, documentation, and maintenance
  • Review network and system designs for compliance with business requirements and GLWA standards
  • Plan, design, and implement infrastructure upgrades, additions, and retirements
  • Perform software releases, upgrades, patching, and resolve hardware/software issues
  • Determine requirements and maintain network and communications infrastructure
  • Work all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and adhere to safety and security procedures
  • Provide on-the-job training
  • Assist IT staff with overflow tasks involving support and maintenance of IT equipment, facilities, and systems
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Compensation $74,355.68 - $112,599.81 (Based on Experience)

Summary Support the design, implementation, management, documentation, and maintenance of Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) infrastructure, including storage, printing, server, radio, voice, and data systems.

Required Education and Experience
  • At the time of application, applicant must: Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years as a Network Administrator, or equivalent education/experience
  • Must obtain a technology certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNE) within two (2) years of hire

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
Benefits

Benefits Comprehensive benefits package effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment. This includes health, dental, vision, tuition reimbursement, and team member discount programs. Retirement and Retirement Health Savings are effective the first day of employment.

Note: Part-Time employment is not eligible for health benefits, however, is eligible to participate in the 457 Retirement Plan.
