Job summary

Google is hiring for a Network Engineer role focused on deploying and operating a global data network at scale. You will work with Design, Deployment, and Planning teams to deliver reliable interconnections across metro sites and data centers, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

You will leverage Python or Go for automation, participate in cross-functional decisions, and help optimize capacity, performance, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale with optical network infrastructure and data services.
• Experience planning/leading network deployments and creating deployment packages and MOPs.
• Experience planning and coordinating with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment.

Responsibilities

• Support and participate with Design, Deployment, and Planning teams to deliver end-to-end connectivity for assigned metro sites.
• Execute and troubleshoot capacity workflows for edge network devices across Google's global network.
• Translate network solutions into standard BOMs and detailed design packages for third parties to execute with minimal oversight.
• Manage creation and maintenance of network documentation and implementation plans (DPKs).
• Apply scripting and software development skills (e.g., Python) to automate workflows and drive process optimizations.
