Network Engineers - All Shifts
Join GDIT’s 24/7 Network Engineering team to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through the NEDIIS program. As a Network Engineer, you will be a member of a team modernizing SD‑WAN, enterprise networking across the VA enterprise. These roles support VA OIT in delivering secure, resilient, and scalable network services that power the VA mission nationwide.
This role will require you to obtain and maintain Public Trust Suitability and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.
Visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Track each circuit order with the major EIS CCS carriers, gathering hardware and configuration requirements for all circuit demarks
- Maintains network architecture standards and enterprise application admission control for the overall enterprise, working in conjunction with field operations, data center, and cloud engineering teams.
- Support IPS hardware operations and troubleshooting.
- Perform inside wiring modifications services, Test and Turn-Up activities, and providing router architecture/IOS configuration modifications to accommodate the new or upgraded circuits.
- Support and assist with validation of the new configuration changes.
- Perform analysis of the applications in test environments to determine how efficient the IP stack functions in a WAN environment
- Support CNE Engineering initiatives and assist in maintaining the VA enterprise WAN standards and engineering principles.
- Provide tactical and strategic input on overall network capacity planning, engineering, management, and related projects.
- Provide maintenance support for Cisco VoIP and Cisco Video Conferencing
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of experience in network engineering, telecom operations, or modernization efforts.
- Strong background in LAN/WAN, SD‑WAN, routing, VoIP/SIP, firewalls, VPNs, or cloud networking.
- Familiarity with monitoring or observability tools.
- Understanding of federal cybersecurity principles (NIST, Zero Trust, TIC, STIGs).
- Ability to support escalations in a 24×7 environment as needed.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desired (Not Required)
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE
- Enterprise SD‑WAN certification
- Network+
Security & Location
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Hybrid role based in Martinsburg, WV, Chicago Il (Hines VA), or Washington DC.
