Job summary

General Dynamics Corporation seeks a Senior Network Engineer for the US BICES-X program. The role ensures stability and optimization of in-house networks at Langley AFB, requiring Secret clearance and CCNA certification.

You will lead complex design, deployment, and troubleshooting initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities include architectural design, system testing, and team leadership for a small group of engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related Network Engineering experience.
• Must possess and maintain a Secret Clearance, TS, SCI Preferred.
• BA/BS degree - may substitute additional years of experience.
• Must possess a completed CCNA certification.
• Must meet DoD 8140 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access; ITIL V4 Foundation within six months.
• Knowledge and experience with data center networking.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast.
• Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets.
• Understanding of network virtualization.
• Basic understanding of Broadcom's NSX-T.
• Knowledge of F5-OS and F5 BIG-IP's LTM and APM.
• Knowledge with routing and switching protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, STP, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP).
• Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices.
• Knowledge and experience with maintaining COMSEC accounts.
• Knowledge and experience with Juniper JUNOS; Cisco IOS/IOS-XE/NXOS.
• Knowledge and experience with Firepower Management Center and Firepower Threat Defense.
• Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels.

With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.

The Network Engineer Senior, your role is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software associated operating systems. The Senior Network Engineer will apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolves issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Responsibilities

Technical Primary Role

• Support for Coalition Integration Lab's engineering and testing requirements
• Support and Deployment for US BICES bi-lat systems and networking

Strategy & Planning

• Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.

Acquisition & Deployment

• Designs and defines network architecture for new or existing computer systems

• Performs complex network development and design work.
• Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.
• Provides input for documentation on new or existing networks.
• Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements.

Operational Management

• Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.
• Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
• Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
• May provide guidance and leadership to less-experienced systems engineers.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
• Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
• Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.
• Participates in special projects as assigned.

This position also manages a small team of network engineers.

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
