Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Network Engineer to design and plan advanced network communications for satellite ground systems. You will specify hardware and software, provide detailed schematics, and test implementations to meet current and future requirements.

Strong written and verbal communication and an active Secret clearance are essential. You will collaborate in an Agile I&T environment, leverage Jira/Confluence for project tracking, and contribute to secure, reliable networks

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years work experience in Network Engineering.
• Experience with satellite ground systems design, development, or integration & test.
• Demonstrated communications skills (verbal and written).
• Active Secret clearance to start (U.S. citizen).

The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:

Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or related discipline or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum of 5+ years work experience in Network Engineering
• Prior experience with satellite ground systems design, development, or integration & test
• Demonstrated communications skills (verbal and written) with the ability to prepare and present program status to management and customers
• An Active Secret clearance to start (Must be a US citizen).

Desired Skills

• Experience working in an Agile I&T environment, including tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Experience designing and documenting network architectures
• Experience working with Cisco Router and Switch hardware products and IOS
• Experience with IP Multicast and related protocols like IGMP, PIM
• Experience with layer 3 networking and tunneling and related protocols like BGP, GRE, IPSec, DMVPN, L3VPN
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot network problems
• Deliver effective customer presentations that include performance results, schedule status, and corrective action details
• Active Secret clearance or higher
• Support occasional business travel (up to 25%)

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

• Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
