Job description

Network Engineer

The position is primarily remote; however, candidates should be local to the Philadelphia area as some occasional onsite work will be required.

Reporting to the Director of IT, the Network Engineer will be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), virtual network, and cloud-based network operations;
  2. Ensure highly efficient and reliable operation of all network communications to meet company requirements;
  3. Assist in analyzing new technologies and recommending system configurations and network designs;
  4. Implement wired and wireless network hardware/software installation, monitoring, and management;
  5. Manage a cloud-based Unified Communications system integrated with Microsoft Teams;
  6. Minimize hardware/software downtime on related equipment to maximize performance and productivity;
  7. Manage and monitor Internet connectivity and MPLS inter-site communications;
  8. Manage network-centric server/software applications, including syslog, Solarwinds servers, and security scanning tools;
  9. Manage mobile telephony and MiFi data devices;
  10. Provide assistance and backup for Security and Server Administration positions;
  11. Provide general IT support;
  12. Participate in on-call pager responsibilities as needed;
  13. Occasionally travel to the company’s fulfillment center in Conshohocken and colocation site in Philadelphia, PA;
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. At least 5 years of experience in network administration, design, and implementation within a mixed Windows and Linux LAN/WAN environment;
  2. Experience with Cisco or similar routers, security appliances, L2/L3 switches, load balancers, and high-availability network design;
  3. Knowledge of routing protocols, VLANs, link aggregation, SSL-VPN, and IPsec;
  4. Experience with wireless/mobile devices and protocols;
  5. Proficiency in troubleshooting Windows 10/11 & Windows Server 20XX, including network configuration;
  6. Experience with configuring and managing security appliances (firewalls);
  7. Understanding of network security, disaster recovery, documentation, and performance monitoring;
  8. Cisco Certification;
  9. Server administration experience is a plus;
  10. VMware-centric networking experience is a plus;
  11. Associate’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
