Job summary

Citizens is seeking a Network Engineer Intern for the 2027 Enterprise Technology & Security Summer Internship Program in Phoenix, AZ (with opportunities at Johnston, RI or Plano, TX). You will work with Network Engineering teams on a range of initiatives, gaining hands-on experience in secure connectivity, automation, and network observability.

The 10-week program includes mentorship, professional development, and networking with ETS interns, with potential for a full-time offer after graduation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS, software development, or related field; expected graduation May 2028.
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Solid understanding of Java, JavaScript, C, Python, .Net, Node, SQL.
• Available to complete a video interview within 4 days.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Gain exposure to maintaining and supporting secure connectivity solutions across the enterprise.
• Develop an understanding of identifying and documenting network performance trends while monitoring diagnostics.
• Collaborate with network engineers, architects, cybersecurity, cloud, and operations teams to plan and execute work.
• Advance knowledge of network security technologies through review and optimization of firewalls and proxies.
• Develop troubleshooting skills by investigating and resolving network availability issues.
• Gain exposure to automation, orchestration, infrastructure-as-code, and observability initiatives.
