Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Network Engineer III to support a Fortune 500 telecommunications organization as part of its Enterprise Network Engineering team in Charlotte, NC. This contract role (through EOY) offers hybrid work with 4 days onsite and 1 remote, and a 40-hour work week.

You will design, configure, and maintain enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless infrastructure, troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, and implement network improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience.
• Hands-on Cisco routing and switching experience.
• Experience with enterprise routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
• Troubleshooting LAN/WAN environments in production networks.
• Familiarity with Cisco wireless technologies; Meraki is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Schedule: Mixture of Day/Night shifts (2-3 overnight maintenance shifts per week)

About the Role

Brooksource is seeking a Network Engineer III to support a Fortune 500 telecommunications organization as part of its Enterprise Network Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work within a large-scale, highly available production environment responsible for maintaining and modernizing critical network infrastructure that supports millions of customers and essential business operations.

As a Network Engineer, you'll partner with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to execute network upgrades, troubleshoot complex connectivity issues, and improve the performance, resiliency, and reliability of enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless environments. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands‑on technical work, solving complex networking challenges, and contributing to high‑impact infrastructure initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Design, configure, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, and wireless network infrastructure.

What You'll Bring

• 5+ years of enterprise network engineering experience supporting medium‑to‑large corporate environments (Fortune 500 or similarly complex enterprise organizations is highly preferred)
• Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.
• Experience supporting enterprise routing protocols including BGP and OSPF.
• Experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN environments within production networks.
• Familiarity with Cisco wireless technologies; Meraki experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to collab across cross‑functional technical teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced enterprise environment while managing multiple priorities.

***Additional Schedule/Shift Info

• First 1‑2 Weeks: follows standard business hours (~ 8 am – 5 pm ET) for onboarding & training.
• After Ramp‑up: role transitions to half DAY/half NIGHT schedule
• Day shifts would be standard business hours (8 am – 5 pm)
• Night shifts would be during the scheduled maintenance window, which is from 11 pm – 6 am ET, as that’s the only time production changes can be made.

Example of a Typical Week

• Mon/Tue – work onsite 8 am – 5 pm (DAY)
• Wed/Thu – work onsite 11 pm – 6 am or 10 pm – 5 am (OVERNIGHT)
• Fri – work remote (start time after lunch)

• Start & end times listed below are not exact/confirmed yet
• Little to no weekend work is expected, and Friday evening work is generally avoided
• Additional flexibility is possible
