Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Network Engineer to ensure reliability, scalability, and security of the firm’s global network across on‑prem and cloud environments. The role focuses on designing, operating, and optimizing connectivity for critical services with high availability and secure access.

The candidate will deploy and manage devices, monitor health, and support cloud networking, automation, and IaC efforts. Collaboration with Cloud and DevOps teams is essential for performance and resilience.

Qualifications

• Strong enterprise networking fundamentals and architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Arista switching platforms.
• Experience with multicast routing.
• Familiarity with network source-of-truth platforms (NetBox).
• Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS preferred).
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Experience with scripting/automation (Python, Bash).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Network Engineer is responsible for the reliability, scalability, and security of the firm’s global network infrastructure across both on-premises data centers and cloud environments. The role focuses on designing, operating, and optimizing network connectivity to support critical business services, with an emphasis on high availability, performance, and secure access.

Key Responsibilities

Network Operations & Support

• Deploy, configure, and maintain network devices (switches, routers, firewalls)
• Monitor network health and ensure timely resolution of incidents across environments
• Troubleshoot complex issues (connectivity, latency, packet loss)
• Support infrastructure expansion, migrations, and lifecycle upgrades
• Maintain operational stability of production networks
• Manage cloud networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups)
• Enable and optimize hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-prem environments
• Partner with Cloud and DevOps teams to ensure performance and resilience
• Support multi-environment network consistency and integration

Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code

• Develop and maintain scripts and tools for network provisioning and operations
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and configuration management practices
• Integrate automation with NetBox to maintain accurate inventory and topology

Security & Compliance

• Implement and manage ACLs and network traffic policies
• Enforce segmentation and isolation for sensitive environments
• Support vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives
• Perform regular audits of configurations and access controls
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure and application needs
• Maintain accurate documentation (network diagrams, configs, procedures) in NetBox and Confluence
• Contribute to process improvements, operational standards, and know

Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of enterprise networking principles and architectures
• Hands-on experience with Arista switching platforms
• Experience with multicast routing
• Familiarity with network source-of-truth platforms (e.g., NetBox)
• Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS preferred)
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Experience with scripting/automation (Python, Bash)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Git)
• Exposure to hybrid cloud networking architectures
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools
• Experience in financial services or latency-sensitive environments
